Summary
It's a sizzling hot summer's day at Buttercup Cottage.
Little Red and her friends are packing the wonky wooden wagon and readying for the River Noodle Boating Bonanza. Little Red, Little Blue, Gino the dog, even Roany the pony are giddy with excitement for a splendiforous summer day on the River Noodle. The prize for the winner of the Boating Bonanza is a magical Key to the wonky wooden wagon. But when a pesky magpie flies down and swoops up the key, Little Red and her friends are worried that their super summer will be ruined. Just in time, Little Red, with the help of her sack of smiles and her bestest friends, comes to the rescue. And everyone at the Boating Bonanza is a winner when the magical key brings to life a truly magnificent treat for all.
Sarah Ferguson, The Duchess of York, delivers the third book in her delightful Little Red series, perfect for summer read-alouds.

School Library Journal Review
PreS-Syrupy dialogue overwhelms this latest story about Little Red. "The River Noodle Boating Bonanza is always so much fun. What a buzz of a day!" Little Red judges the boats that her animal friends create and selects a winner. The soft pencil-and-watercolor illustrations do a nice job of conveying the action. Imaginative boats include a gravy boat, a teacup, a boot, and a watering can; the animals riding in them are lively and have personality. Publisher's Weekly Review
First introduced in Little Red (now in paperback), the spunky redhead returns for Little Red's Summer Adventure by Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, illus. by Sam Williams. Here the gal sets out for the River Noodle Boating Bonanza; the winner will get the magical key to the wonky wooden wagon. But when a magpie makes off with the prize, Little Red and her pals must set things right. (c) Copyright PWxyz, LLC. All rights reserved
Horn Book Review
The Duchess of York's third Little Red title features Little Red awarding the Boating Bonanza winner a chance to turn her magic wagon's key. When the key is dropped into the River Noodle, pup Gino must retrieve it. The confusing plot is further obscured by annoying alliteration. Playful soft pencil and watercolor illustrations can't save this convoluted tale. (c) Copyright 2010. The Horn Book, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Media Source, Inc. No redistribution permitted. Kirkus Review
Ferguson returns to the bucolic splendor of Little Red and Little Blue's world in this third addition to the series. The two children, along with their menagerie of feathered and furry friends, are preparing for a summer festival and boat show, the highlight of which is a surprise transformation of Red's wagon using a magical key. However, when the key is snatched, Little Red and her pals must work together to solve the problem--with a little magical assistance from within Red's sack of smiles. Ferguson maintains a light and airy tone throughout the tale, where even the most vehement expletive--shouted out by Little Blue--is the phrase "Coconut cupcakes!" Williams's pencil-and-watercolor illustrations are awash in vibrant summery hues. His detailed paintings neatly capture the fey, otherworldliness of the Buttercup Cottage community and inhabitants. Captivating depictions of the activities provide plenty of material for young readers to linger over. Ferguson's sweetly innocent tale, filled with whimsy, is the perfect antidote to high-tech overload and just the thing to share with little ones.
