PreS-Gr 2-Little Princess is back, and she wants a party even though it is not her birthday or Christmas. So, she spends the week writing her invitations, making a delicious cake and Jell-O mold with Cook, practicing Pin the Tail on the Donkey, and decorating. She gets all dressed up.but nobody comes. Alas, she forgot to actually mail the invitations. Not to worry, however. A knock at the door reveals that her best friend has arrived to invite Princess to her party the following week. No need to waste all those decorations and cake, however. Little Princess and her best friend have a fabulous party while looking forward to the one next week. In her latest outing, Little Princess and her staff prepare to throw a spectacular party, but on the big day she realizes that she forgot to send out invitations. While the coincidence-dependent resolution detracts from the capably told story, Ross's energetic watercolors are full of good gags. (c) Copyright 2012. The Little Princess, last seen in I Want to Do It Myself! (2011), has another thing she desperately desires: a party! As usual, her royal court is happy to assist, creating hats, food, games, and invites. But the invites never go out, and on the big day nobody comes. Except for the princess' best friend, who just happens to come by so the princess turns the party into one honoring her friend. Ross' scrawly lines and endearingly sloppy watercolors make this another easy-to-read, easy-to-love entry into the continuing adventures of this rascally royal.--Kraus, Daniel Copyright 2010 Booklist
