In these episodes in the adventures of Tinkerbell's younger sisters, Clara's magical powers manifest themselves at the annual Valentine's Games and Sylva and Poppy, given a magical dollhouse by Queen Mab, quickly discover that sharing treasure is challenging, even for best friends. McNamara's playful narration balances the sweetness factor, and her characters' realistic imperfections will resonate with readers. Gently shaded sketches add atmosphere. As the fairies of Sheepskerry Island prepare for the Valentine Games, in which they and the gnomes compete in races and enjoy feasts together, Clara realizes that her magical powers are increasing. During a swimming race, her gnome friend Rowan finds an injured dolphin. Clara magically heals its wound but at great cost to herself. There's plenty to like in the fourth book of the Fairy Bell Sisters series, from the illustrated story with its hint of romance to the notion that the fairies in this idyllic community are gradually growing and changing.
