School Library Journal Review
Gr 4-7-Superb narrator Stanley McGeagh does a marvelous job with the third title (Scholastic, 2013) in the "Troubletwisters" series. Twelve-year-old twins Jaide and Jack are upset when their beloved Grandma X is injured in a suspicious car crash. This comes right after the horrifying death of Young Master Rourke (actually quite an old man), which was seemingly caused by a bunch of bespelled animals and an unknown man. When the twins' father asks them to have a look around Rourke Castle for something called the Golden Card of Translocation, they find themselves in great peril. Evil is near, their father is acting very strangely, Grandma X is unavailable for advice, and the twins still are unable to control their magical powers. McGeagh really delivers the thrills using different voices and accents, easily conveying menace, anger, impatience, confusion, and fear. Horn Book Review
Jaide and Jack search for an unknown hidden treasure at an old mansion on the outskirts of Portland to protect it from The Evil. Their trust in those closest to them will be tested, as will their still new and hard-to-control powers. This third entry generates thoughtful questions about the twins' (and the series') future, though the writing remains rather uninspired. (c) Copyright 2014. Booklist Review
Young Master Rourke has died under suspicious circumstances, leaving Rourke Castle and the residents of Portland in a quandary. When their father asks them to search the castle for the mysterious Golden Card of Translocation, twin troubletwisters Jack and Jaide must rely on the Compendium for wisdom since Grandma X is hospitalized. Meanwhile, their father is impatient, their Gifts are still not in control, and the Evil encroaches ever closer. In spite of the nebulous title, fans of the first two titles will not be disappointed with the twins' new adventures. Exploring the ideas of secrets, self-identity, and trust, and with plot twists aplenty and intriguing new characters, this one delivers.--Moore, Melissa Copyright 2010 Booklist
