Booklist Review

Ages 4-7. Even the most timid young reader can enjoy this Halloween tale. At Miss Scarum's School for Ghosts and Ghouls, all the spooks have passed their scaring exams except for Little Ghost. Miss Scarum is unsympathetic: if Little Ghost doesn't scare somebody soon, he'll have to stay behind with the babies. As a last resort, he tries a nearby grade school. Unfortunately, everybody there is getting ready for the Halloween play, and Little Ghost just doesn't stand out. First he's mistaken for a sheet, then a hand towel, and then a ghost costume. But when he floats onstage in the midst of the play, he dazzles the audience and becomes the star of the show. The gentle story is matched by whimsical illustrations in pen and soft watercolors.
