Description
Danville Carnival August 30 – 31, 1916 included a judged horse show, balloon ascension and parachute leap, vaudeville acts and an industrial parade. This is a photo of the Red Men of Danawa Tribe float in the parade along US Hwy 36 next to court house square. The Danville, Indiana lodge was chartered in 1915. “The Improved Order of Red Men is a patriotic fraternity chartered by Congress that traces its origins back to 1765 and is descended from the Sons of Liberty [Boston Tea Party]. It is a non-profit organization devoted to inspiring a greater love for the United States of America and the principles of American Liberty.”
