This is William Gladden Reed's membership certificate to the Free Masons. Freemasonry came to Indiana about 1800. The Grand Lodge was organize in 1818 in Madison, Indiana. The Bridgeport Lodge, for which this membership certificate is for, was established in 1854 and was located on the far west side of Indianapolis, just east of Raceway Road at 8400 West Morris Street in 2012. William was born in 1841 and died in 1919. He married Sarah Ann Larsh and the family lived in Washington Township. This document was created in May of 1894.
