Jorden Herman “Herman” Barker (1886 – 1969) graduated from Emmerich Manual High School in Indianapolis because Avon didn’t have grades 9 – 12 until 1913. He was the son of Daniel Stright Barker (1846 – 1925) and Emily A. (Mark) Barker (1858 – 1944).
Jorden Herman Barker married Ada Florence Reed (1886 – 1933) in Hendricks County June 22, 1910. She was killed in a car accident Dec. 9. 1933 that seriously injured Herman and daughter Lois. He married Minnie Fahrback (1896 – 1982) in Hendricks County November 21, 1937.
Jorden Herman Barker and Ada Florence (Reed) Barker's children: Beula Belle Barker (1911 – 1982), Ira Gordon Barker (1913 – 1998), Lorna Pearl Barker (1915 – 1992) and Lois Ileen Barker (1926 - 1999).
