William Gladden Reed was born January 30, 1841 to Jediah Reed (1798 – 1878) and Catherine Negley Reed (1802 – 1879). He died September 29, 1919. He married Sarah Ann Larsh (1854 – 1945) on October 8, 1873. He owned a farm that spanned both sides of County Rd. 800 E (Dan Jones Road) between 100 North and US 36 in Avon, Indiana. He and Sarah had 4 children: Millie Frances Reed (1874 – 1976), William Everett Reed (1877 - 1954), Ada Florence Reed Barker (1886 – 1933) and Lester Arlo Reed (1890 – 1964).
